War update: Ukrainian air forces launch 20 strikes on enemy positions

Over the past day, Ukrainian air forces have launched 17 strikes on Russian personnel clusters and three strikes on enemy air defense system positions.

The relevant statement was made by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Facebook, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

Meanwhile, Ukraine’s missile and artillery units hit one Russian command post and one enemy personnel cluster.

Russian troops have launched one missile strike on the city of Kharkiv and opened fire with multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) about 10 times over the past day, namely on civil infrastructure in such regions as Donetsk, Mykolaiv and Kherson.

The threat of enemy missile and air strikes is persisting all over Ukraine, according to the General Staff.

In the Siverskyi and Slobozhanskyi directions, Russian troops opened fire on the positions of Ukrainian forces and civilian targets near the Chernihiv region’s Buchky, the Sumy region’s Starykove, Shalyhyne, Volfyne, Basivka and Petrushivka, and the Kharkiv region’s Strilecha, Zelene, Ambarne, and Hatyshche.

In the Kupiansk and Lyman directions, Russian invaders used tanks, mortars, cannon and rocket artillery to strike 16 settlements, including the Kharkiv region’s Dvorichna, Kupiyansk, Kyslivka, Kotliarivka, Krokhmalne, and the Luhansk region’s Stelmakhivka, Makiivka, Ploshchanka and Dibrova.

In the Bakhmut direction, over 15 settlements came under enemy fire, such as the Donetsk region’s Spirne, Berestove, Bilohorivka, Soledar and Bakhmut.

In the Avdiivka direction, the enemy shelling was recorded near the Donetsk region’s Avdiivka, Vesele, Nevelske, Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Marinka and Novomykhailivka.

In the Novopavlivka direction, Russian troops shelled the Donetsk region’s Vremivka, Velyka Novosilka and Vuhledar.

In the Zaporizhzhia direction, Russian occupiers opened fire on over 13 settlements, namely the Donetsk region’s Zelene Pole and Novopil, the Zaporizhzhia region’s Huliaipole, Charivne, Shcherbaky, and Stepove.

In the Kherson direction, Russian occupiers launched artillery strikes on civil infrastructure in Chornobaivka, Antonivka, Kherson and Zolota Balka. Casualties among civilians were reported.

According to the data from the General Staff, within the Kherson region’s temporarily occupied urban-type settlement of Nyzhni Sirohozy, the so-called ‘prosecutor’s office’ of Russian occupiers began to ‘nationalize’ local businesses.

At the same time, Russian troops continue to suffer losses. During the first week of 2023, about 300 Russian invaders were taken to a local hospital in the Luhansk region’s temporarily occupied city of Lysychansk.
