Enemy fires 114 projectiles at Sumy region, landmark damaged

On January 1, 2023, Russian troops attacked five border communities in the Sumy region, having fired 114 projectiles. A local landmark was reported damaged.

The relevant statement was made by Sumy Regional Military Administration Head Dmytro Zhyvytskyi on Telegram, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

In particular, Russian invaders fired 15 rockets with multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) at the Esman community. Fifteen more strikes were launched with cannon artillery.

The enemy also struck the Hlukhiv community with MLRS, having fired 20 projectiles.

The Shalyhyne community was shelled with 120-mm mortars: 11 explosions were recorded. Ten more strikes were launched with cannon artillery.

Additionally, six enemy shells exploded at the border with the Krasnopillia community.

The Bilopillia community was struck with 120-mm mortars twice. Twenty-seven explosions were recorded.

According to Zhyvytskyi, a local landmark was hit, i.e. the wooden church of St. Barbara. Additionally, a monument, cultural hall and building of the council of prefects were damaged.
