One person killed, several more injured in missile attack on Kyiv - Klitschko

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko has said that according to initial information, one person was killed and several others were injured in a Russian missile strike in Kyiv's Solomianskyi district on Sunday, December 31.

He said this in a post on the messaging app Telegram, Ukrinform reports.

"According to preliminary information, one person was killed in the Solomianskyi district. Several others were injured," Klitschko said.

Later, he added that medics had hospitalizing three injured women, with rescuers working at the sites of the explosions.

Klitschko also said that a Japanese journalist had been injured in the attack.

"A journalist from Japan was injured during a missile attack on Kyiv in the Pecherskyi district. He is being hospitalized. In total, there are eight injured people," he wrote.

Klitschko earlier said that explosions had been heard in the Solomianskyi, Pecherskyi and Holosiivskyi districts of the Ukrainian capital.
