Minister Reznikov: Russia violates laws of war in Ukraine on daily basis

In violation of the Convention respecting the Laws and Customs of War on Land, Russian troops are continuously shelling residential buildings in Ukraine on a daily basis.

The relevant statement was made by Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov on Twitter, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“Russians are shelling Ukraine’s residential buildings on a daily basis. The Convention respecting the Laws and Customs of War on Land prohibits the attack or bombardment of towns, villages, dwellings, or buildings which are undefended. But the occupiers don’t care,” Reznikov wrote.

The Convention respecting the Laws and Customs of War on Land was endorsed at the international conference in The Hague in 1907. Russia ratified and joined the Convention in 1909.

A reminder that, on December 24, 2022, Russian troops again struck downtown Kherson. At least eight civilians were reported killed and 58 injured.
