About 87,000 people evacuated from dangerous regions of Ukraine over past few months

About 87,000 citizens have been evacuated from dangerous regions of Ukraine over the past few months.

The Ministry for Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine said this in a post on the messaging app Telegram, Ukrinform reports.

"In recent months, over 43,000 people have left the dangerous parts of the Zaporizhzhia region, about 34,000 [evacuated] from the Kherson region, approximately 5,000 from the Donetsk and Luhansk region, and over 5,000 citizens from the Kharkiv region," the report reads.

It added that the evacuation from the liberated territories is ongoing. According to the ministry, more than 12,000 people were evacuated from the Kherson region, and about 23,000 from the Kharkiv region.

Mandatory evacuation from the Donetsk region is also ongoing. Since its beginning, more than 33,000 citizens have already moved to safer regions, including about 5,000 children and almost 2,000 people with reduced mobility.

As of December 8, as many as 4.88 million Ukrainians had the status of internally displaced persons, including 3.5 million citizens who have been displaced since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine began.
