PM Shmyhal: New aid package worth USD 338M from Sweden includes air defense systems

The new aid package from the Government of Sweden, totaling about USD 338 million, is a significant contribution to Ukraine’s victory.

The relevant statement was made by Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal on Telegram, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“The new ‘winter package’ of assistance from the Government of Sweden, totaling about USD 338 million and including, in particular, air defense systems, is a significant contribution to Ukraine’s resilience and victory,” Shmyhal wrote.

Shmyhal held an online conversation with Prime Minister of Sweden Ulf Kristersson. The parties discussed the support needed to restore Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.

“Swedish power transformers, generators and other equipment are already helping to restore the Ukrainian energy system. We are grateful for this. At the same time, protecting the Ukrainian sky against Russia’s terrorist attacks remains a priority for us,” Shmyhal noted.

Additionally, Sweden joined the Grain from Ukraine initiative of the President of Ukraine, having allocated EUR 10 million for the purchase of Ukrainian-produced grain for Asian and African countries.

Shmyhal and Kristersson also discussed ambitious plans for the near future, such as Ukraine’s integration into the European Union and large-scale post-war reconstruction.
