Invaders turn Melitopol into military base – mayor

The occupiers turn Melitopol town, Zaporizhzhia region, into a military base.

"If earlier, 2-3 months ago, we were saying that the occupiers seized a military base and enterprises in the town, and our resistance forces were knocking them out regularly, today we can say that the ruscists are using our town and district as a whole as a huge military base," Melitopol Mayor Ivan Fedorov said on the air of Espresso TV channel.

Most enterprises now work for the occupiers in the defense sector, he added.

"At the captured factory of reinforced concrete products, they manufacture reinforced concrete bunkers which are taken for the defense of Kherson and Zaporizhzhia directions. They use machine-building plants to repair their equipment," Fedorov said.

Moreover, the Russian military decided to live in cities and villages. They settle in enterprises, schools and kindergartens, and in recent weeks occupy private houses they like. According to Fedorov, thousands of Russian soldiers live in the village of Myrne.

As reported, the Russians took prisoners from a penal facility in Kherson and set up a base there.
