Putin imposes ‘martial law’ in temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine

Russian dictator Vladimir Putin signed a decree on the imposition of "martial law" in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine: the puppet "DPR" and "LPR" and captured parts of Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions.

As Ukrinform reports with reference to Meduza online media outlet, Putin explained, speaking at the Russia’s Security Council meeting via video link, that the martial law regime had been imposed on those territories even before they "joined Russia." "Now we need to legitimize this regime within the framework of Russian legislation," Putin said.

He also announced that the heads of the occupation administrations would be given additional powers to "ensure security".

It is clarified that the document will be immediately sent to the Federation Council.

The day before, insiders reported that senators of the Russian Federation Council were instructed to stay at work on Wednesday. Approval of Putin's decision is a responsibility of the Federation Council.
