Zelensky: Ukraine will regain its territory step by step

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky believes that Ukraine will de-occupy its territories step by step.

"It's a very difficult war. We will regain our territory," Zelensky told ABC in an interview.

The President emphasized that Ukrainians "need to, step-by-step, de-occupy our territory."

"This task is difficult and it doesn't only depend on us, but I'm sure that is what will happen," he added. "It's only matter of time."

When asked why the Ukrainian military decided to launch the counteroffensive in Kherson region at this time, Zelensky said: "I won't say that it's only counteroffensive in Kherson ... There is a direction or directions -- plural -- and we have to move forward."

On February 24, Russia launched a new stage of the eight-year war against Ukraine – a full-scale offensive. The enemy massively shells and bombs peaceful Ukrainian cities and villages. The Armed Forces, the Territorial Defense Forces and the entire Ukrainian people are effectively resisting the Russian troops and inflicting heavy losses on them.
