Russians fire 16 S-300 missiles at Mykolaiv Aug 29

Russian S-300 surface-to-air missile systems, repurposed to hit surface targets, struck the Ukrainian city of Mykolaiv 16 times on Monday, August 29, causing casualties among the civilians, as well as significant destruction.

This was reported by the press service of the Regional Administration on Facebook, according to Ukrinform.

"As per Operational Command South, in the afternoon of August 29, after 15:15, Mykolaiv was subjected to massive shelling by sixteen S-300 missiles, which led to massive destruction and damage to private households, multi-storey apartment blocks, and transport infrastructure facilities. As a result, two people were killed and 24 were injured," the statement reads.

It is noted that at 09:17 and 15:20 on Monday, the enemy shelled the town of Ochakiv in Mykolaiv district. A local recreational area was hit.

In the afternoon of August 29, in the village of Chervone, a household was partially destroyed and the gas main was damaged by the Russian strike. At 16:02, outside the village of Kalynivka, Russian shelling caused a fire, with no casualties.

Private households were hit by two S-300 missiles in the Bashtanka district in the evening, with no casualties reported.

The villages across the Bereznehuvate community, located along the line of contact, remain under constant shelling.

As reported, more than 6,000 residential buildings have been damaged in Mykolayiv region since Russia unleashed its full-scale war on Ukraine.
