Russians achieve no progress on battlefield in Ukraine, U.S. defense official says

Russian military positions in Ukraine have weakened as the invasion forces are seeing no progress on the battlefield.

That’s according to a senior defense official, who spoke with the press on Friday, Ukrinform reports.

“You are seeing a complete and total lack of progress by the Russians on the battlefield. So in that sense, we are at a different phase than where we were even a couple of months ago,” the official told journalists.

He noted that the Ukrainian army is weakening the Russian forces in Ukraine’s east.

The spokesperson also commented on the latest events in Crimea – primarily, the explosions at the Novofedorivka airfield.

“I do not have an overall assessment of the total impact of the recent attacks, especially on the airfield in Crimea but, certainly, we are seeing this overarching picture of Russian forces being much more vulnerable than they thought they were, and we are seeing movements of Russian forces as a result to try to protect their capabilities,” the official said.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, the Joe Biden Administration said they did not stand against Ukrainian strikes at Russian targets in the occupied Crimea, using weapons supplied by the West.
