Estonia has already provided EUR 250M in military aid to Ukraine

The amount of Estonia’s defense aid to Ukraine has reached a quarter of a billion euros, including in weapons, ammunition, equipment, and machinery.

This was reported by ERR with reference to the head of the Department of International Cooperation at Estonia’s Defense Ministry, Peeter Kuimet, as seen by Ukrinform.

According to the official, Estonia has provided such massive support to Ukraine that in the coming months it needs to focus on replenishing own reserves. Therefore, the amount of defense assistance to Ukraine will be reduced.

The European Union subsidizes countries that have provided tangible assistance to Ukraine. Estonia is expected to receive EUR 135 million.

"This will allow us to replenish the stocks of weapons and ammunition that we handed over to Ukraine. This slightly limits our defense capability for a while, but it is clear that Ukraine needed this help immediately. In a broader sense, this sends a very positive signal because our assistance is widely public and has attracted attention," said Kuimet.

As reported by Ukrinform, on Thursday the government of Estonia approved another package of military aid to Ukraine, as part of which the country will send more weapons, including mortars and anti-tank weapons.
