72nd Mechanized Brigade gets state-of-the-art reconnaissance drone

The 72nd Mechanized Brigade named after the Black Zaporozhians has received a state-of-the-art DJI Matrice 300 reconnaissance drone as part of the Army of Drones project.

According to Ukrinform, Ukraine's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov said this in a Telegram post.

"We handed over a state-of-the-art DJI Matrice 300 drone to the legendary 72nd Brigade named after the Black Zaporozhians. These soldiers defended the capital and drove the invaders out of the Kyiv and Chernihiv regions. And now they are defending the country in Donbas," Fedorov wrote.

He said that earlier, in order to find out where enemy forces were deployed and whether it was safe to conduct an operation, the Ukrainian military had to get close to Russian positions, risking their own lives.

According to Fedorov, the DJI Matrice 300 is a professional copter that will help the 72nd Mechanized Brigade learn about the enemy's positions and the movement of equipment day and night thanks to a thermal imager.

He said that contracts worth UAH 474 million had been signed as part of the Army of Drones project. Some of the attack drones and reconnaissance UAVs are already on the front lines, and the rest will be handed over to Ukrainian defenders in the near future.

On July 1, the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the Ministry of Digital Transformation and the United24 platform announced the launch of the Army of Drones project. This is a comprehensive program that includes the systematic purchase of drones, their repair and operational replacement, as well as a pilot training course.
