Ukrainian pilot boat blown up at Danube mouth, passage through Bystre Canal restricted

A Ukrainian pilot boat has been blown up at the mouth of the Danube in Odesa Region. Passage through the Bystre Canal was temporarily restricted.

The relevant statement was made by the South Operational Command on Facebook, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“In the Danube’s Bystre Canal, a pilot boat was ruptured due to a collision with an unknown explosive device. The crew was evacuated by a small boat of the [Ukrainian ] Sea Guard,” the report states.

No casualties were reported, the South Operational Command added. The circumstances of the incident are yet to be clarified.

According to Ukrainian Shipping Magazine, it was the pilot boat Orlyk that had been blown up by a mine.
