Azov regards attack on Olenivka as an act of public execution – regiment’s statement

The Azov Regiment regards the mass murder of Ukrainian prisoners of war in the village of Olenivka as an act of public execution, which Russia committed with impunity.

Azov Regiment Acting Commander, Major Mykyta Nadtochii (Raz-Dva) stated in his video address, Ukrinform reports.

“We regard the attack on Olenivka as an act of public execution. Russia committed it with impunity. They are used to the fact that no one will hold them accountable, even for open violations of laws, customs and rules of war. Therefore, we, Azov, Ukraine as a state and the whole civilized world will painfully fight back so that Russia remembers this once and for all,” he said.

According to Nadtochii, Azov soldiers are finding out the names of the executors and organizers of the execution of prisoners and already have preliminary information, but they are not ready to announce the details yet.

“We will find them wherever they are - in the occupied territories of Ukraine, in Russia or in third countries. Ukraine as a state will ensure fair punishment. I want to remind Putin, who is personally responsible for this war crime: never speak of a rope in the house of a man who has been hanged,” he said.

According to Nadtochii, Russia lied about the Ukrainian army for 24 hours, and today it confirmed its crime in a statement released by the embassy.

“Russia thinks it killed Azov, executed it. But Azov is now the whole of Ukraine. Every Ukrainian will avenge every one of our tortured and dead brothers,” he said.

As reported, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Russian military deliberately attacked the facility in the temporarily occupied town of Olenivka, Donetsk region.

According to Ukrainian intelligence, mercenaries of the Russian private military company, the Wagner Group, carried out the murder of Ukrainian prisoners.

More than 50 captured Ukrainian defenders were killed.
