State guarantees protection, support to people evacuated from Donetsk region - Vereshchuk

The Ukrainian authorities are working to ensure that all citizens evacuating from Donetsk region receive housing and social protection.

According to Ukrinform, this was stated by Deputy Prime Minister - Minister for Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories Iryna Vereshchuk.

"In Donetsk region, there are 200,000-220,000 Ukrainians, including 52,000 children. And it is the responsibility of the state and every adult citizen to ensure the protection of their lives," said Vereshchuk.

According to the minister, the evacuation from Donetsk region is due to two reasons: the intensification of hostilities and the almost complete absence of electricity and gas supply. Therefore, this winter, populated areas will be without heat, the government official noted.

As reported by Ukrinform, on July 29, the Cabinet of Ministers set up a Coordination Headquarters to organizer the evacuation of civilians from Donetsk region and appointed Iryna Vereshchuk as its head. The headquarters will also include representatives of ministries, law enforcement agencies, and regional administrations.
