Zelensky replaces commander of Special Operations Forces

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has dismissed Hryhorii Halahan as the commander of the Special Operations Forces and appointed Viktor Khorenko in his place.

According to Ukrinform, the decrees to that effect, Nos. 530/2022 and 531/2022, have been published on the website of the head of state.

"To dismiss Hryhorii Anatoliiovych Halahan from the post of commander of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine," reads decree No. 530/2022.

By another decree, No. 531/2022, Zelensky appointed Khorenko to the post of commander of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

"To appoint Viktor Oleksandrovych Khorenko as commander of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine," the decree reads.

Halahan was appointed commander of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on August 25, 2020.
