Chairman of the Armed Service Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives, Adam Smith, said that the United States is ready to provide Ukraine with as many HIMARS systems as possible.
Smith spoke in an interview with RFE/RL, Ukrinform reports.
He expressed doubt that the U.S. has exactly 50 HIMARS units in its arsenal, while the goal is to deliver to Ukraine 25 to 30 multiple rocket launchers, which would be a combination of HIMARS and several MLR systems from Great Britain and other countries.
The legislator added that the U.S. also intends to provide as much munitions to these systems as possible.
As reported, Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov said that Ukraine needs at least 50 HIMARS and M270 systems to effectively deter the enemy, and at least 100 to run an effective counteroffensive.
