Captured ‘DPR’ fighter admits he fired on houses in Sievierodonetsk from tank

The Ukrainian troops captured a resident of Donetsk, who has been fighting against the Ukrainian army since 2015 as part of a tank unit of the so-called "people's militia" of the “Donetsk People’s Republic”.

“Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the ‘DPR’ member arrived in Luhansk region together with the occupation contingent of the Russian Federation. Meanwhile, his son is fighting on the side of Ukraine,” the Security Service of Ukraine posted on Telegram.

"I have a family: my wife and son have been living in Dnipro since 2014. I have been a ‘DPR’ serviceman since 2015. On March 25, 2022, we set out to start active hostilities with the Armed Forces of Ukraine," the press service quotes the militant as saying.

The man admits that he fired from a tank on the Zorya chemical plant in Rubizhne, a drama theater and apartment blocks in the old part of Sievierodonetsk, where civilians were hiding from the shelling. Obeying an order, he was razing the town to the ground, ‘paving the way’ for the infantry.

It was during the fighting in Luhansk region that the Ukrainian service members captured him and several "infantrymen".

On February 24, Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Russian troops shell and destroy key infrastructure, massively fire on residential areas of Ukrainian cities, towns, and villages using artillery, MLRS, ballistic missiles, drop aviation bombs.
