Russia spreading fake news on 'mobilization of women in Ukraine'

Russian propagandists are spreading false information about the mobilization of women to the ranks of the Ukrainian defense forces.

According to Ukrinform, the Center for Combating Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine said this on messaging app Telegram.

A number of pro-Russian Telegram channels spread a photo of a document allegedly signed by the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Serhii Shaptala, which states that territorial recruitment centers "have until June 15, 2022 to prepare lists of women included in the military register […] and carry out mobilization measures." They also "have until June 31, 2022 to organize measures for the military registration of women aged 18 to 60 years."

However, this information is false, and the document itself is fake, the center said.

This fake news was produced for domestic consumers and aims to create centers of social instability in some regions of Ukraine, the report said.
