Invaders want to make life in Ukraine unbearable, but we will win - Shmyhal

Russian invaders are doing everything to make life in Ukraine unbearable, but the Ukrainians will win the war and rebuild their state, making it even better.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said this at a press conference with Swiss President Ignazio Cassis as part of the World Economic Forum in Davos, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"The Russian military tortures and kills children and women. Russian artillery destroys houses, schools, hospitals, forcing Ukrainians to leave their homes. They destroy roads and industrial enterprises, grain storage facilities, utility enterprises. The occupiers are doing everything to make life in Ukraine unbearable," Shmyhal said.

He added that the total economic losses in Ukraine caused by full-scale Russian aggression amount to about $600 billion, but Ukraine will win.

Shmyhal stressed that the victory of the Ukrainian army on the battlefield is only 50% of Ukraine's victory, the other 50% will come when Ukrainians return home, "when we rebuild destroyed Ukrainian cities, towns, villages, roads, enterprises, and make them even better, when Ukraine becomes an economically successful member of the European Union."

He stressed that Ukraine is already doing everything to bring the liberated cities back to life, but there is still a lot of work to be done, and Ukraine is determined to recover from the ashes of war and become better than before.

"The rebuilding of Ukraine should be a success story for the entire civilized democratic world. The plan will include restoration and development of infrastructure and housing, structural modernization and restart of the economy, implementation of European standards in all areas, measures to combat unemployment, support vulnerable groups, restore and preserve cultural heritage," Shmyhal said.
