Russian troops resumed their assault on the Azovstal steel plant in Mariupol after a UN convoy left the Donetsk region.

According to Ukrinform, Petro Andriushchenko, an adviser to the mayor of Mariupol, said this on Telegram.

"As expected, after a UN convoy left the Donetsk region, the occupiers began storming Azovstal. In particular, they unsuccessfully tried to break through the bridge that was the gate of evacuation," he said.

On May 3, Russian invaders launched an assault on Azovstal, trying to break into the plant from several places.

On May 7, all children, women and the elderly were evacuated from Azovstal.
