Russian troops shell two communities in Sumy region

Russian troops late on May 4 shelled the settlements of the Hlukhiv and Esman communities in the Sumy region from Russian territory.

Dmytro Zhyvytskyi, head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, said this on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.

"At about 20:00 pm, the Russians started shelling our communities from their side of the border. The Hlukhiv community came under mortar fire. About 20 shells landed near the village of Sopych. The Esman community, the outskirts of Bachivsk and Tovstodubove. The enemy fired about 18 mortar bombs," the report said.

There are no casualties or damage due to the shelling.

On May 4, Ukrainian border guards recorded mortar and grenade attacks from Russian territory on the border areas of the Sumy and Chernihiv regions.
