In the past 24 hours, Russian troops have carried out 35 air strikes on Mariupol’s Azovstal steel plant, where civilians are hiding in the basements. Some civilians have been injured.

This has been reported on the Telegram channel of the Azov Regiment that is defending Mariupol, according to Ukrinform.

“The Azovstal plant, where the defenders of Mariupol are located and where civilians are hiding in the basements from shelling, is under enemy fire. In the past 24 hours alone, 35 air strikes were carried out, during which one of the plant’s shops caught fire,” the report says.

The defenders stress that civilians have been injured and some of them have been trapped under  the rubble.

Soldiers of the Azov Regiment are providing first aid and making every effort to remove civilians from the rubble.

The Azov Regiment also published photos and a video showing a wounded elderly woman being assisted by the military.

As reported, Russian troops have caused a major humanitarian catastrophe in Mariupol. The invaders are bombing unarmed residents and blocking humanitarian aid.

About 150,000 civilians were evacuated from Mariupol, besieged by the Russian invaders, to the territory controlled by the Ukrainian authorities. About 120,000 civilians remain in the city.
