Russia continuously attacking Azovstal in Mariupol - Podolyak

Russian forces are continuously attacking Mariupol's Azovstal, where civilians and the military are located.

Mykhailo Podolyak, an adviser to the head of the Ukrainian President's Office, said this in a Twitter post, Ukrinform reports.

“Orthodox Easter 2022. But right now, the Russian Federation is continuously attacking the Mariupol Azovstal. The place where our civilians and military are located is shelled with heavy air bombs and artillery. The Russian Federation accumulates forces and equipment for the assault. Who gave the order ‘not to storm’?” Podolyak wrote.

The official noted that Russian should think about the remnants of its reputation. According to him, for this, three “Mariupol steps” are needed: announce a real Easter truce in Mariupol, immediate humanitarian corridor for civilians, agree to a “special round of negotiations” so that Ukraine can take/exchange  its military.

As reported, Russian troops have caused a major humanitarian catastrophe in Mariupol. The invaders are bombing unarmed residents and blocking humanitarian aid.

About 150,000 civilians were evacuated from Mariupol, besieged by the Russian invaders, to the territory controlled by the Ukrainian authorities. About 120,000 civilians remain in the city.
