More than 2,600 civilians evacuated from Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia regions today

On April 12, 2,671 civilians were evacuated from Luhansk and Zaporizhzhia regions, according to Deputy Prime Minister - Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories Iryna Vereshchuk

"Today 2,671 people have been evacuated," she wrote on Telegram, Ukrinform reports

According to Vereshchuk, 2,343 people traveled from Mariupol and Berdiansk by their own transport to Zaporizhzhia. Among them, 208 people were from Mariupol and 2,135 people - residents of cities of Zaporizhzhia region (Polohy, Vasylivka, Berdiansk and Melitopol).

She also said that 328 people were evacuated from the cities of Lysychansk, Severodonetsk, Rubizhne, Kreminna and Popasna (Luhansk region).

At the same time, she stressed that at the checkpoint in Vasylivka, Russian forces are blocking some evacuation buses that left Zaporizhzhia.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the beginning of a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Russian troops have been shelling and destroying key infrastructure facilities, conducting massive shelling of residential areas of Ukrainian cities and villages using artillery, multiple rocket launchers and ballistic missiles.
