General Staff: Enemy still intends to completely capture Donetsk and Luhansk regions

Russia does not abandon its plans to completely capture Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

"Today is the 47th day of heroic opposition of the Ukrainian people to the Russian military invasion. The enemy does not abandon its plans to completely capture the territory of Donetsk and Luhansk regions. In Slobozhansky direction, the enemy continues to partially block the city of Kharkiv, firing from multiple rocket launchers, artillery, and mortars. In the area of the town of Izium, the occupiers try to hold the frontiers captured earlier," the General Staff of the Armed Forces posted on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.

As noted, in Donetsk and Tavriysky directions, the enemy tried to storm the town of Sievierodonetsk but failed. While shelling Popasna, Tochka-U tactical missile system was used. Attempts to advance deep into Ukraine to improve the tactical situation were unsuccessful.

In the city of Mariupol, the enemy carries out assault operations in some areas.

In the Southern Buh direction, the invaders try to improve the tactical situation and gain a foothold on the administrative borders of Kherson region. There are many cases of desertion in the enemy units.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Russian troops try to carry out measures of information and psychological influence on the residents of Kherson city and the region. In particular, newsletters with distorted information about the course of hostilities and occupiers’ reasons for so-called "special military operation" are handed out, social benefits, including pensions in accordance with norms and rules established in the Russian Federation, are imposed on citizens of Ukraine, Russian Telegram channels, which allegedly provide "reliable" information, are popularized.

Mobile patrols and posts staffed with mobilized residents of the temporarily occupied territories of Luhansk and Donetsk regions operate in the temporarily occupied territories of Zaporizhzhia region.

In addition, the occupying power announced another wave of mobilization of men under 65 years of age in Luhansk. Soldiers of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation conduct raids on utility companies and factories to identify men of call-up age and forcibly send them to military registration and enlistment offices.

At the same time, more than 300 mobilized Alchevsk residents have been killed since the beginning of hostilities. More than 1,200 victims have been brought to hospitals in Donetsk since the beginning of the large-scale war.

"The information is disseminated among the personnel of the occupation units in the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea that the Armed Forces of Ukraine plan to launch a counteroffensive in Kherson region with the possible entry into the Crimean Peninsula," the General Staff added.

As reported, Russian troops lost about 19,500 personnel from February 24 to April 11.
