Germany must help Ukrainians in their fight against Putin's system – defense minister

Putin's system must be broken in Russia's war against Ukraine, and Germany must do everything possible to help make that happen.

German Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht said this during the debate in the Bundestag, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"On the streets of Bucha, we saw not only the bodies of those killed, but all the brutality of Putin's system. A system that considers all means good to promote its interests, that subordinates everything to the nationalist great-power idea, that has no restrictions and brakes, that tramples on law and humanity. Therefore, this system cannot win. Those who act like Putin do not care whether the bodies lie on the streets of Bucha or on the streets of Tbilisi, Vilnius or Berlin. Therefore, Germany must help Ukrainians as much as it can in their fight against Putin's system," Lambrecht said.

She stressed that this war of aggression is a crime in itself, but what the world saw in Bucha went beyond all bounds. In this regard, the politician noted that it would be wrong to reduce everything to just Putin. "It is not only his crimes, but also the crimes of every commander who gives orders, every soldier who carries out these orders or allows them to be carried out. They are all to blame. Every crime must be investigated and absolutely every perpetrator must be punished," the minister said.

Representatives of all factions of the Bundestag took part in the debate on the situation in Bucha. All of them unanimously condemned the actions of the Russian army. At the same time, many deputies criticized the German government for its slow decision-making on the provision of weapons to Ukraine.
