Two women, two children killed in shelling in Kharkiv region

Amid shelling of the village of Slobozhanske, Kharkiv region, two civilian women and two children were killed under the rubble of a private house that had been hit.

The State Emergency Service (SES) of Ukraine issued the relevant statement on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.

"At night, as a result of yet another shelling of a small village, Slobozhanske, Balakliia community of the Izium district, an enemy shell hit a private household. As a result, the building was destroyed and four people died under the rubble – two women and two children. A girl, 5, survived, suffering injuries. Paramedics evacuated her to a hospital in Pervomaisk," the statement reads.

It is noted that overnight Thursday, March 10, the enemy intensified shelling and bombing of residential areas in Kharkiv and small rural settlements across the region.

At 10:46pm, fire and destruction was reported at the Nikolsky shopping mall in central Kharkiv. At 3am, fire was extinguished.

In total, the rescuers scrambled 30 times to put out fires and clear the rubble of destroyed buildings.
