The Ukrainian military is defending Mariupol from the Russian military, having destroyed an entire company of tanks, six armored fighting vehicles and about 40 invaders.

According to Ukrinform, the Joint Forces Operation reported this on Facebook.

"Ukrainian defenders continue to hold the strong defense of Mariupol. The Russian occupiers are suffering enormous losses in the battles for the 'Hero City of Ukraine.' Today marines and servicemen of the Azov regiment destroyed the whole company of tanks of the enemy, six armored fighting vehicles and about 40 invaders," the statement reads.

In addition, the Joint Forces received documents from the Kremlin occupiers with a list of the unit's personnel and their addresses.

"Mariupol is standing, and the enemy will lie in our soil. Glory to Ukraine!" the JFO added.

On March 5 and 6, the mass evacuation of Mariupol residents, which was organized after negotiations with Russia, was postponed due to enemy shelling along the approved route.

As was reported earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin launched a large-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24. Russian troops have been shelling and destroying infrastructure and residential areas of Ukrainian cities and villages using artillery, multiple launch rocket systems and ballistic missiles.

Martial law was imposed in the country and general mobilization was announced.

Ukraine officially filed a lawsuit against the Russian Federation to the International Court of Justice in The Hague.
