A large-scale rally for a no-fly zone over Ukraine, strengthening its defense capabilities and deepening sanctions against Russia took place in the U.S. capital.

Thousands of people gathered near the White House, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

“Amid devastating bombardments of civilian territories, as well as a threat of nuclear Armageddon at the Zaporizhzhia NPP by Russian troops, the Ukrainian community and concerned allies demand that the U.S. assistance to Ukraine be increased," said the organizers of the rally - UCCA, UNIS and United Help Ukraine.

They also drew attention to the growing humanitarian crisis, which is now going beyond Ukraine's borders and spreading to other European countries, which needs an urgent response.

The rally near the White House was a continuation of a series of rallies that have been taking place for the second week.

On Sunday, people came out with posters "No-fly zone over Ukraine!", "Stop the war in Ukraine!", "Close our skies!", "Support Ukraine!"
