About 1,700 foreign students remain in Sumy city.

Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Serhiy Shkarlet said this on the air of Ukrainian TV channels, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

"As of today, there are about 1,700 foreign students in Sumy. Rectors are remaining there. We are constantly in touch with them. Students are in safe bomb shelters, provided with hot meals, food, water, because evacuation from there is now dangerous," Shkarlet said.

As reported, on February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin declared war on Ukraine and launched a large-scale invasion. Russian troops have been shelling and destroying key infrastructure. Missiles hit residential buildings.
