Fire broke out at coal mine in Kryvyi Rih, 11 people remain trapped underground

A transformer exploded at the Ternivska mine in Kryvyi Rih. Eleven people are trapped underground.

Head of the Kryvyi Rih Military Administration Oleksandr Vilkul wrote on Facebook.

"Ignition of an oil transformer at the Ternivska mine KZHRK [Kryvyi Rih Iron Ore Plant]. Voltage 1500V. Two transformers burned down," he wrote.

He assured that there is no threat to citizens from the fire.

"But 11 people remain trapped in the mine. The possibility of lifting them is currently being studied.  There are some options," Vilkul said, adding "causes of the fire will be established after extinguishing it."
