Kyivstar blocks all text messages coming to its subscribers from Russia, Belarus

Ukraine's mobile operator Kyivstar has blocked all text messages coming from Russia and Belarus to the numbers of its subscribers due to a large number of spam messages with unreliable information.

According to Ukrinform, the company announced this on Facebook.

"In recent days, subscribers have begun to receive a large number of spam messages with unreliable information. Therefore, we inform you that we have blocked all text messages from Russia and Belarus to Kyivstar numbers. This is our next decisive step to combat disinformation," the statement said.

It added that Kyivstar continues to use all technical capabilities and resources to ensure the stable operation of mobile communications and the Internet.

"Unfortunately, overload occurs in some settlements due to prolonged power outages or damage to certain areas of infrastructure. The company's specialists are aware of all such situations and use every minute of calm in the area of the Joint Forces Operation to restore communications," Kyivstar said.

The State Emergency Service of Ukraine, in cooperation with Kyivstar, will inform citizens about the current situation in their region and provide recommendations via text messages.
