State Border Guard Service: There is hope all Ukrainian defenders of Snake Island may be alive

There is hope that all Ukrainian defenders of Snake Island may be alive.

According to Ukrinform, the Ukrainian State Border Guard Service reported this on Facebook.

"The SBGS, the Ukrainian Armed Forces, as well as the whole of Ukraine, received hope that all defenders of Snake [Island] are alive. Russian media reported that Ukrainian servicemen who stayed on the island had been taken to Sevastopol, temporarily occupied by Russia. Preliminary information that border guards may be killed came before contact with the defenders was lost," the statement reads.

The SBGS stressed that Russian propagandists know how to produce false information reports and use them, noting that Ukrainian defenders have surrendered.

To find out about the fate of Ukrainian defenders, work was carried out in all possible directions. Currently, after receiving information about their probable whereabouts, the SBGS and the Armed Forces of Ukraine are working to identify Ukrainian soldiers with the help of information in open networks.

"Border guards and fighters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine bravely held the defense, especially amid the predominant means of defeat and forces of the enemy. [...] We sincerely hope that the guys will return home as soon as possible and that the information received at the time of the attack will not be confirmed," the State Border Guard Service said.

As was reported earlier, on February 24, the aggressor fired from naval weapons and used combat aircraft against border guards and soldiers of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on Serpent Island in the Black Sea. According to available information at the time, the infrastructure was destroyed and the island was captured.

Prior to that, the enemy repeatedly tried in vain to intimidate Ukrainian defenders, with demands to surrender, and received only one correct answer - no one will surrender.
