The first Ukrainian tennis "racket" Alexandr Dolgopolov has advanced to the third round of the ATP-500 tournament in Washington, D.C., USA.

Kyiv resident beat Australian Jordan Thompson, who is ranked in the first hundred of the world tennis ranking, in a difficult match, which lasted one hour and 58 minutes - 4:6, 6: 1, 7: 6 (7:4), Ukrinform has reported.

Dolgopolov scored eight aces and three double faults.

Alexander's next opponent will be American Sam Querrey, the 29th "racket" in the world ranking.
