Over six percent of Ukrainians are persons with disabilities.

Deputy Social Policy Minister of Ukraine Natalia Fedorovych announced this on Wednesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"Over six percent of Ukrainians are persons with disabilities," Fedorovych said.

She noted that the main task of the Government of Ukraine was to create appropriate conditions to ensure adequate involvement of persons with disabilities in the life of the state.

"We are very happy with the results of our Paralympic team, they are fantastic. However, the important task of the government, the task of the local authorities is to make every effort to ensure active involvement in the life of the state of not only Paralympians, but all 6% of Ukrainians, who are persons with disabilities," Fedorovych added.

The Deputy Minister emphasized that creation of a barrier-free environment for Ukrainians is an important condition for doing this.
