Ministry of Health says polio vaccination without side effects
Deputy Health Minister Ihor Perehinets told the Parliamentary Committee on Healthcare, Ukrinform reports.
"The first stage of vaccination covered 65 percent of children. It's much more than we could hope for, but still 30 percent lower than required," said the official.
He noted that the feedback on vaccination from the medical community and parents was "absolutely positive".
The official also said that in the first stage of vaccination more than 1.9 million doses of vaccine were used and no cases of the so-called adverse reactions were reported.
He informed that this week a new batch of polio vaccine was received which consists of 4.4 million doses. It’s being distributed to the regions now, and on Friday the Ministry of Health plans to make a conference call to all regions - with over 600 districts on the line - to discuss preparations for the second stage of vaccination.
