Ukraine’s population decreased by about 123 thousand people in first half of 2018

In the first half of 2018, the population of Ukraine decreased by 123 thousand people, and as of July 1 it amounted to 42.263,900 people.

This was reported by the State Service of Statistics on August 17.

So, for the indicated period, 164 thousand children were born in Ukraine, 298 thousand people died.

At the same time, there are 55 live births per 100 deceased in Ukraine, the State Statistics Service noted.

In the first half of 2017, the population of Ukraine decreased by 118 thousand people. At the same time, 179 thousand children were born, 298 thousand people died.

The State Statistics Service also informs that in January-June of 2018 there was a migration inflow at the level of 11,200 people, while in the same period of 2017 this figure was 3,807 people.

The All-Ukrainian population census is scheduled for 2020.

The only census of the population of independent Ukraine was carried out in December of 2001. According to its results, there were 48.457 million people in the country.
