No threats to cancellation of visa-free travel for Ukraine - border guards

The European Union does not intend to revise the terms of the visa-free regime with Ukraine given the unanimous assessment of the absence of security threats from Ukrainian citizens and transit travelers.

First Deputy Head of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine Vasyl Servatiuk said this at a briefing on Monday, June 1, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"On June 1, the Ukrainian government delegation reported to the European Commission on the implementation of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement. I was a speaker at a panel 'Integrated Border Management.' I would say that the assessment of our colleagues from the European Union is unanimous - there are currently no threats from Ukrainian citizens and travelers who use Ukrainian territory as a transit country. Therefore, there are no real threats to even a talk about reviewing the conditions of the visa-free regime," Servatiuk said.

At the same time, he noted that security is a priority for EU countries that plan to take measures to strengthen it.

"Similar work is being conducted in our country," Servatiuk said.
