The U.S. Department of State says that the implementation of the e-declaration system in Ukraine is successful and notes that all officials who leverage their positions for financial gain should be brought to responsibility.

The U.S. Department of State voiced its position on the e-declaration system in Ukraine following a request from Ukrinform.

“We commend Ukraine on the successful implementation of the e-declaration system, which was a ground-breaking step forward in promoting transparency in governance, while also meeting a requirement for the International Monetary Fund’s support package,” the US State Department said.

The department also positively assesses the number of delectations submitted by Ukrainians officials, which significantly exceeds the number specifically targeted by the IMF.

“This is another positive step in Ukraine’s effort to enact comprehensive reforms,” the Department stated.

At the same time, this transparency “sparks other questions,” which is peculiar to a healthy democracy.

“It is important that the Ukrainian government continue to investigate and prosecute officials who leverage their positions for financial gain,” according to the US Department of State.
