Committee of Voters: 344 political parties registered in Ukraine

Ukraine has the highest number of officially registered political parties in Eastern Europe, Oleksiy Koshel, Director General of the Committee of Voters of Ukraine (CVO) has stated.
“At present Ukraine is among the leaders in Eastern Europe in the number of officially registered political parties. As of today, 344 political parties have been registered,” he said at a press conference.
In particular, according to Koshel, there are 84 registered political parties in Poland, 56 – in Slovakia, 124 – in Romania, 45 – in Moldova, and 38 – in Lithuania.
He also noted that a half of all registered political parties appeared in Ukraine in the last three years.
“Some parties are registered on commercial purpose. That’s why such number doesn’t evoke trust,” Koshel said and added that the pace of registration of new political parties in Ukraine should be stopped.
