Poroshenko: Cease-fire from September 1 depends on Putin

In the course of the working trip to the Donetsk region, President Petro Poroshenko informed that pursuant to his instruction the Ukrainian representatives in the Trilateral Contact Group had put out the initiative to declare ceasefire regime starting from September 1.

This has been reported by the press service of the Head of State.

“Today, our partners from France and Germany endorsed the initiative of Ukraine. Now, everyone is waiting for the answer of one person – Putin, who is responsible for the aggression and murders,” Petro Poroshenko said.

The President emphasized the necessity of creating instruments of pressure jointly in order to ensure peace, fulfill the security components, withdraw Russian troops and prohibited artillery from the territory of Ukraine, provide unhindered access for the OSCE observers and liberate all Ukrainians held captive in the occupied territory.

“We hope that cannons will cease fire starting from September 1 on the main factor of instability – 409 km and 300 m of the uncontrolled Ukraine-Russia border, through which Russian troops, mercenaries and equipment get into Ukraine,” Petro Poroshenko said.
