Freedom House about media and corruption in Ukraine: No change in last three years

In its research project on democracy “Nations in Transit”, Freedom House noted that the state of corruption, media freedom and justice in Ukraine remained at the level of 2013 and has not changed for the last three years, 5.ua reports.

“The state of fight against corruption, media freedom and justice remained at the level of 2013 and has not changed during the last three years,” reads a report.

According to the Freedom House rating, Ukraine in its development of democracy holds the 18th place among the 29 formerly communist countries, scoring 4.68 points by seven criteria: national democratic governance, electoral process, civil society, independent media, local democratic governance, judicial framework and independence, corruption.

Furthermore, according to Freedom House, Ukraine in 2016 will continue to face problems of territorial integrity “because of Russia’s aggression and instability of its national democratic institutes”.
