VR Speaker: Rada saved UAH 1.5 million by fining truant MPs in couple of months

The Verkhovna Rada Speaker Andriy Parubiy said that because of the adoption of the resolution to claim a refund from the MPs who are not attending the session of parliament, the Verkhovna Rada has saved UAH 1.5 million in a few months, Parubiy told the final session press conference, Ukrinform has reported.
"I want to say that during this period, when the resolution was put into effect, the Verkhovna Rada has saved UAH 1.5 million. And this amount was received in a few months. This is the most effective approach, because for many of these MP the fines are not important," he said.
The VR Speaker noted that the problem with MPs’ attendance of the sessions is a big problem which must be solved primarily through public pressure.
