Chairman of the Zakarpattia Regional State Administration Hennadiy Moskal has sent an official appeal to Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman requesting to dismiss him from the position.

Moskal wrote this on his website.

"I do not see any reason for my further tenure as the chairman of the Zakarpattia Regional State Administration. Therefore, I ask you to exercise your constitutional right and to send a submission on my removal from office to the President of Ukraine," he wrote.

The Chairman of the Zakarpattia Regional State Administration recalled that on July 11, 2015, the armed conflict took place in Mukacheve, which was provoked by redistribution of flows of smuggled cigarettes from Ukraine to the EU. Immediately after the incident, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko initiated personnel changes in the regional state administration, the local departments of the Interior Ministry, Security Service, Fiscal Service and the State Border Guard Service. As a result, the situation in the region was stabilized.

However, as Moskal emphasizes, the international criminal groups "do not want to put up with the loss of large profit and in any way try to restore the systemic smuggling of tobacco products, using the influence of Ukrainian politicians and leaders of certain agencies."
