The European Commission claims that Ukraine has met all the necessary requirements for its citizens to be able to travel to the EU without visas by the end of the year, EU Commissioner for European Neighborhood and Enlargement Negotiations, Johannes Hahn has said in an interview with Radio Liberty.

"I am well aware of the challenges experienced by Ukraine; the continuous armed conflict, half a million displaced persons, huge economic problems. It is a considerable challenge for the Ukrainian authorities," Hahn said.

He stressed that Ukraine still had a long way to go to not only adopt the necessary legislation on association with the EU but also to implement it.

At the same time, Commissioner Hahn expressed hope that the citizens of Ukraine, Georgia and Kosovo would already be able to travel to the EU without visas in 2016.
