Sevruk becomes acting prosecutor general

After the dismissal of Viktor Shokin, first deputy prosecutor general Yuriy Sevruk will fulfill the responsibilities of the prosecutor general of Ukraine.
Vladyslav Kutsenko, a prosecutor at the Ukrainian Prosecutor General’s Office, told a press briefing on Tuesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“The Verkhovna Rada made its statement, is supported a resignation letter of Viktor Shokin. After the completion of procedural issues connected with today parliament’s decision, according to Part 3 of Article 9 of Ukraine’s law on the prosecutor’s office, first deputy prosecutor general Yuriy Sevruk will fulfill the responsibilities of prosecutor general,” he said.
