Poroshenko: EU’s softness not to stop ‘Russian bear’

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko believes that European sanctions help to hold Russia at the negotiating table and easing of sanction policy would be a mistake.
The President said this while delivering the speech at the Leiden University in the Netherlands on Friday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
"The sanctions work. They help to hold Russia at the negotiating table," the President said.
According to Poroshenko, the world should not repeat the mistakes of 2008, made in connection with the conflict in Georgia, when it seemed that the "Russian bear" would calm down when it got all it wanted. Poroshenko stressed that easing of European sanction policy would not stop Russia.
