New Ukraine’s Labour Code passed as a basis

Ukrainian lawmakers passed as a basis the draft Labour Code of Ukraine, which is part of the package of bills aimed at the liberalization of the visa regime with the European Union.

258 MPs voted for the decision, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

As MP Liudmyla Denisova noted, the draft Labour Code is aimed at determining the basic mechanisms of the exercising the labor rights and guarantees, stipulated in the Constitution, establishing appropriate and safe working conditions, protecting the interests of employees and employers.

She also stressed that the draft provided for the comprehensive approach to settlement of employment relations, as well as to the codification and adaptation of the laws on these issues.

The draft includes the provisions aimed at bringing the labor legislation of Ukraine in line with the European Social Charter and other international instruments - the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, the conventions and recommendations of the International Labour Organization.
